A fun historical fiction set in England beginning with a tone similar to "The Book Thief." Writing evolves with chapters guiding us through the family's story over several generations. I especially liked the way that the author leaves out details that a child would not know, but fills them in later. Appropriate for all ages, accessible and should hold interest to both genders. I would recommend, although, the writing style may be a bit more literary than average Rhode Islanders would be used to.
At times, i found it hard to keep track of which characters I was reading about - they didn't seem all that clearly defined and didn't think they were so well developed. Ironically, I think Atkinson did a much better job with some of her minor characters like the Ropers and the other woman with whom George had the rendez-vous. When the book was done, I didn't mourn having to say goodbye to the characters - for me, the the true test of a great book. I'd say we should pass on it! Nancy Kirsch
I always enjoy a walk around the museum, all the historical value makes me feed my knowledge and i feel that i grow up like a person. I like to try what i want to prove. this is when i buy viagra for my husband. whenever i have a doubt, i mus to satisfy my curiosity.
